CANADIAN AIRLINES PROMOTES SUMMER PRICES

Canadian Airlines is trying to make it cheaper to fly in Ontario between June 29 and Sept. 2. The company launched a promotion this week during which people travelling its shuttles between Toronto and Montreal or Toronto and Ottawa can do so for $49 each way. The special fares are based on a round-trip purchase including a one-night minimum stay requirement and a 21-day advance purchase. In addition, the promotion features daily prize draws from Pepsi-Cola Canada for all shuttle customers. Prizes include an all-terrain mountain bike, a Sony Discman and a leather jacket. All customers travelling during the promotion will be entered to win a trip for four to Walt Disney World. Print advertising is supporting the promotion and the low air fares. Radio advertising may follow. The ads were created by BCP of Montreal, Canadian's interim agency until June 15. Gee, Jeffery & Partners of Toronto was hired in May as the airline's agency for English Canada. BCP is the incumbent for the account in Quebec, and will continue to handle French advertising. Pepsi teamed up with Canadian Airlines earlier this week to make it the only soft drink supplier to the airline for at least the next three years.
