ING Direct begins Canadian Superstar Saver Search

Financial company ING Direct has begun an online promotion called the "Canadian Superstar Saver Search." The contest will be conducted through video website YouTube Canada, located at <http://www.youtube.ca>. To enter the contest, Canadians must submit a two-minute video to the site depicting a way to save money. Submissions will close on Jan. 15, 2008. A judging panel will then select 10 finalists in English and 10 in French. Visitors to the site will then vote for a winner in each language. Each winner will receive $10,000 in an ING Direct Investment Savings Account. "The Canadian Superstar Saver Search is a unique way for us to encourage and reward creative savings ideas and to inspire Canadians to save their money," said Mark Deep, head of marketing at ING Direct. "While the contest is fun and suggests outrageous ways to save, we hope that more people will start thinking about putting away a few extra dollars." The company has released an online video of its own to promote the contest. The video shows people using fast food ketchup pouches, saving magazine perfume samples, reusing paper towels and cutting their own hair. The video is posted at the contest website, <http://www.ingdirect.ca/superstarsaver>.
