Toronto-based Edelman Canada has acquired a majority interest in Karyo Communications, a Vancouver-based communications and public relations agency. The firm, which will be renamed Karyo Edelman, employs a staff of 25. The agency will continue to be led by principals Patti Schom-Moffatt and Paul Welsh. “This was a natural next step for us, as we have worked closely with Karyo for the past two years,” said Charles Fremes, president and CEO of Edelman Canada. “They have provided our clients with the best in class public relations counsel as well as award-winning integrated marketing and design capabilities. Karyo’s local expertise combined with Edelman’s worldwide network will be a great asset to many Canadian and American companies looking to expand their scope and profile in Canada.”
