Telecommunications Alliance promotes 10-digit dialing

Cossette Communication-Marketing has recently completed a campaign for the Telecommunications Alliance intended to raise awareness of the new 10-digit telephone dialing requirement in certain areas of Ontario and Quebec. As of June 17, the eight million residents of the 450, 514, 819, 519 and 613 area codes must use 10-digit telephone numbers to place local calls. The campaign to promote this chance began in April with two print ads running in daily and weekly newspapers in the affected regions. Radio advertising began on June 5. Web advertising on PagesJaunes.ca, Canada411.ca and SympaticoMSN.ca began on June 12. A website has been constructed at <http://www.dial10.ca> to provide additional information. The advertising campaign was also supported by public relations activities. The Telecommunications Alliance includes Bell, Rogers, Telus, Fido, Télébec, Allstream and Vidéotron, as well as the companies represented by the Ontario Telecommunications Association and the Association des Compagnies de Téléphone du Québec.
