Sponsorship roundup

The Globe and Mail has signed on as title sponsor of the annual awards program of the Council for Business and the Arts in Canada. The national association of business people encourages private sector support for the arts. The annual awards recognize companies that have shown an “outstanding commitment” to Canadian arts. The event will now be called “The Globe and Mail Business for the Arts Awards.” The awards fall into three categories: Best Arts Entrepreneur Partnership, Most Effective Corporate Program and Most Innovative Marketing Sponsorship. This year the council will add a new award called The First Dance, which will be given to businesses engaging in arts partnerships for the first time. “This partnership with The Globe and Mail launches a new era for CBAC in our role as ambassador for business partnerships with the arts,” said Billie Bridgman, president of the council. “Increased profile through The Globe and Mail will reinforce and recognize the role of businesses as partners with the arts and highlight the unique opportunities that collaborating with culture offers.”
