NOVA SCOTIA'S FAVORITE SUDS COME TO TORONTO

Labatt Breweries of Canada unveiled a treat yesterday for homesick Nova Scotians living in Toronto. The brewer started delivering Keith's India Pale Ale to bars and restaurants in the city, to test how well Nova Scotia's most popular beer will be received outside the province. Keith's, which is made in Halifax by Labatt subsidiary Olands Brewery, has close to a 30% share of the market in Nova Scotia, said Olands spokesman Terry Zuk. "It's the most popular regional beer in Canada," he proclaimed. Labatt is proceeding cautiously with the test market of the Maritime brew, which is being exported to Ontario for the first time since Alexander Keith began making it in 1820. It is being sold just in draft form in Toronto, and only a limited amount of print and television advertising will be used to publicize it. The beer will be promoted mainly at the premises in which it is consumed. Corporate Communications Ltd. of Halifax handles advertising for the brand.
