CLUB MONACO SELLING SODA
By Adnews Staff
Toronto-based Club Monaco is expanding from fashion into soft drinks. The clothing chain is launching its own brand of regular and diet cola on March 14, setting up vending machines at the 62 Club Monaco's stores in Canada. Vending machines and pop cans will carry pictures from Club Monaco seasonal advertising campaigns, starting with the spring ad push launched March 1. Selling for a buck a can, the new pop is a promotional gimmick as well as a way to raise money for charities. Fifty per cent of the take will be given to AIDS related charities. Club Monaco's spring campaign uses outdoor, interior transit and bus panels created in-house. Harrison, Young, Pesonen & Newell of Toronto handles media buying. The cola is made by Cott Corp. of Toronto. Cott's ad agency, Holmes, Donin, Alloul of Toronto, came up with the idea.
