CANADA OFFERS BETTER SERVICE

Vancouver's Chinese community says Canada's businesses have quality products, and although staff are friendly, they're slow. The city's Chinese residents also feel Canadians are overtaxed. This is what researchers were told when they conducted a survey for the Angus Reid Group of Toronto. Eighty-three per cent found staff more courteous and helpful in Canada than in their homeland, but 57% found the Canadians to be slower. Eighty-nine per cent said sales taxes were higher than in their places of birth. Fifty-one per cent said they got more for their money in Canada; 54% found the quality of goods and services higher. Angus Reid interviewed 2,000 people by telephone last year from Oct. 12 to Nov.7.
