DDB RESIGNS HERSHEY
By Adnews Staff
After selling off three brands, Hershey Canada has lost the ad agency that was doing the advertising for them. DDB Needham Worldwide in Toronto announced late Friday afternoon that it had resigned its creative assignments with Hershey. There was not enough business left to make it worth the agency's while financially, DDB president Darryl Lindberg explained to Adnews. In January Hershey sold Life Savers, Breath Savers and Beechnut cough drops to Beta Brands of Toronto. DDB had been doing creative for the three brands: after the sale the agency was left only with Glosette, Eat More and Pot of Gold. Lindberg said that his agency would be approaching Beta about handling the brands bought from Hershey. Beta chairman Joseph Pulla said two weeks ago that he would decide within a month whether to hire an agency for the three products or handle advertising in-house. Hershey officials were unavailable to comment on how they would handle agency assignments for the three brands resigned by DDB.
