TELE-METROPOLE SHOWS INCREASED REVENUE

The Quebec question put coin in the coffers of Télé-Métropole Inc. The Quebec company reported consolidated operating revenues of $55.7 million in the first quarter of 1996, a 5.7% increase over last year. Broadcast revenues for the quarter rose 6.7% over the same period of 1994. The referendum campaign was responsible for about one-third of this year's increased broadcast revenues. Net income for the quarter rose to $5.6 million from $5 million during the same period last year. Télé-Métropole is a communications and film production company. Its major shareholder is Groupe Vidéotron of Montreal.
