TRADE SHOW MANAGEMENT BREAKS OUT ON ITS OWN

A new Toronto company has been formed to organize trade shows. Called International Trade Show Services, the privately-owned company specializes in the production and management of association-owned trade shows and conferences. It is owned by president Jim Mahon and vice-presidents Fred West and Glenn Waterman. All three worked at Industrial Trade & Consumer Shows until it closed on Dec. 31. Mahon was president and general manager, West group show manager and Waterman show manager. The new company is currently organizing eight trade shows including Telecon shows, High Speed Rail, the Canadian Bar Association Show and the Canadian Launderers & Dry Cleaners Exposition. Industrial was owned by Maclean Hunter Ltd., which was taken over by Rogers Communications in 1994. Rogers sold off most of Industrial's shows before closing the division down.
