RECKITT & COLMAN CONSOLIDATES

Reckitt & Colman is consolidating the $230-million(US) global portion of its advertising account with New York-based McCann Erickson Worldwide. McCann already works for the company in Asia. The products being taken over by McCann are those sold around the world, such as Airwick and Wizard air fresheners and Dettol antiseptic. The British-based consumer products company currently has 35 agencies on its global roster. In Canada its billings are just over $3 million, according to A. C. Nielsen estimates. Stringer Veroni Ketchum Advertising of Toronto handles most Reckitt & Colman brands. These include Woolite laundry products, Zero Fine Fabric Wash, Keens mustard and French's mustard and sauces. Cossette Communication-Marketing of Montreal has Lysol, SaniFlush and Prosolve. Yesterday Reckitt & Colman was still considering what it would do in Canada. Marketing vice-president Kathy Whidden told Adnews a decision should be made by today.
