CONSUMERS GAS CHOOSES ANOTHER
By Adnews Staff
Consumers Gas almost has the job finished. Gee, Jeffery & Partners Advertising of Toronto walked away last week with Consumers' retail account after winning a competition with three other agencies. Gee, Jeffery's competitors were Johnston Wiltshire McDermott of Brampton, Ont., Weaver, Tanner & Miller of Kitchener, Ont. and Enterprise Advertising of Toronto. The agency won because of "the excellent work they've done for other retail clients," marketing communications manager Connie Turner told Adnews yesterday. The Toronto-based natural gas company will award its media assignment by the end of next week. Late last year, Consumers split its account into four areas: retail, utility, direct mail and media buying. Last week Weaver Tanner & Miller was given the utility account and its Toronto office took over the direct mail business. The combined advertising budget for all accounts is $3 million. Consumers will review the four pieces of business annually and will also hire agencies for other projects as they come up.
