SPRINT IN MANITOBA

Toronto-based Sprint Canada introduced its residential phone service to the province of Manitoba last week. Currently, it is only available in Winnipeg and Brandon, but will roll out to the rest of the province at a later date. Advertising begins today using TV, print, direct mail and telemarketing done by Grey Advertising of Toronto. The service consists of The Most Worldwide long-distance savings plan where consumers can save up to 50% each month on the number they call the most each in Canada, the U.S. and overseas. In addition, consumers receive a 15% discount on all other long-distance calls. Sprint's business services have been in Manitoba since April. Separately, Sprint introduced its Foncard long-distance telephone card on June 1. The telecommunications company is promoting the card to current customers through telemarketing. Sprint has its residential service in every province except Saskatchewan, where long distance competition is still pending.
