CANADIAN AIRLINES SLOWS DOWN REVIEW
By Adnews Staff
Canadian Airlines International is delaying its agency review for the next couple of weeks while it finds a new marketing communications director, marketing communications manager Janet Gilmore told Adnews yesterday. The new executive will replace Kari Grist who recently went on maternity leave and will return to the company in a different position. The airline had hoped to have a long list of ad agencies by the end of this week. Fifty-five shops have filled out a questionnaire in a bid to compete for the $11 million-plus account. The Calgary-based airline has been with TBWA/Chiat Day of Toronto for five years but decided to look for an agency that will take it in a tactical direction, with ads focusing more on ticket prices. Last year former American Airlines executive Barbara Amster took over as marketing senior vice-president. BCP of Montreal will continue to do Quebec advertising and Ogilvy & Mather Direct will hold on to the direct marketing assignment.
