CAXTON GROUP BUYS TONE INTERACTIVE, PG(E)TOOLS

Toronto-based Caxton Group has acquired Toronto-based e-marketing company Tone Interactive. Financial details were not disclosed. Gordon Griffiths, chairman and CEO of the Caxton Group, said the purchase of Tone was a key step in establishing Caxton Group as a full service marketing and communications management company. "Their technology in permission e-mail will provide the backbone for the e-marketing project management division we have created," Griffiths said in a release. Tone Interactive's partners will continue to operate the division. The acquisition is the second in two months for the Caxton Group. In March, the group bought pg(e)tools, a print project management company based in Markham, ON. Like Tone Interactive, pg(e)tools' management group will continue to operate the company. Caxton was founded in April 2000 by Griffiths, Michael Hall and Kinghaven Capital. The company focuses on integrated marketing management services in the print and e-marketing media channels.
