BURGER KING'S BREAKS "CHOOSE THE OOZE" PROMOTION

Burger King Corporation launches a "Choose the Ooze" promotion today. The four-week kids' campaign is based on green foods and includes Heinz EZ Squirt Blastin' Green ketchup; Gooey Green Apple Ooze, an apple-flavoured dipping sauce for chicken tenders, and Frozen Green Minute Maid Cherry treats. The Miami-based burger chain is hoping to drive traffic to its stores and trial of its Big Kids Meals and Kids Meals with the new marketing initiative. According to Brian Gies, director of youth and family marketing for Burger King, one-third of the company's business is from kids and their families. Advertising support for the "Choose the Ooze" promotion includes a 30-second spot from Campbell Mithun of Minneapolis, MN and in-restaurant materials. The commercial is the first on-air advertising the agency has done for Burger King since winning the kids' business account earlier this year. The in-restaurant materials will also server as teasers for an upcoming promotion in May surrounding Shrek, a big, green character from a swamp.
