ATRA ASKS "WHAT ABOUT GETTING TOUGH ON TOBACCO?"

The ATRA Alberta Tobacco Reduction Alliance has launched a new television advertising campaign asking Albertans "What do you think - should Alberta be doing more?". The launch of the campaign follows the ATRA's release of its policy platform to encourage policy makers to get tough on tobacco. The campaign, which broke on Monday, tells about the global effort to reduce tobacco use. The television spots show other places in the world that have taken on the fight against tobacco and are winning. Viewers are encouraged to answer the question asked in the spots by calling a toll-free telephone number. The campaign was created by Calder Bateman Communications and Parallel both of Calgary. The television spots are running daily on CTV in Alberta. The campaign is scheduled to run until mid-April. ATRA is an alliance of 65 member organizations, committed to seeing the reduction of tobacco use in the province.
