TRUE NORTH EXPANDS

True North Communications, Inc. of Chicago is expanding with the addition of Detroit-based advertising agency DCA Dan Coleman Advertising. DCA focuses on the African-American market. It will become a member of True North Diversified Companies' New America Strategies Group, a new initiative aimed at expanding multicultural marketing resources. As part of the deal, True North Diversified Companies will acquire a 49 per cent interest in DCA. Financial details of the deal were not disclosed. Don Coleman, president and founder of DCA, will continue in his role and will assume the role of chief executive officer of North American Strategies Group. DCA's client list includes: Kmart Corporation, General Mills, Domino's Pizza, Miller Brewing Company and DaimlerChrysler, which it shares with True North's advertising agency Bozell Worldwide. True North Communications Inc. is a global communications holding company. Its major advertising agencies, in addition to Bozell, include Foote, Cone & Belding Worldwide and Temerlin McClain. Also included in True North Diversified Companies is BSMG Worldwide public relations, Marketing Drive Worldwide marketing services, R/GA Interactive and TN Media. The North American Strategies Group of True North's Diversified Companies includes: DCA, SiboneyUSA, which is an Hispanic agency, Stedman Graham & Partners, which focuses on the African-American market and Imada Wong, which focuses on the Asian and Asian-Pacific American markets.
