MINISTER OF FISHERIES TO PROMOTE RECREATIONAL FISHING IN B.C.

The Minister of Fisheries and Oceans Canada, Herb Dhaliwal, has announced two million dollars in funding for the next two years, to promote recreational fishing in the province of British Columbia. The funding will be provided to the Canadian Tourism Commission, which will oversee the development of a tourism marketing campaign for the recreational fishing industry. The campaign will promote the conservation-based and selective recreational fishing, using print advertising in newspaper and magazines, promotion at trade show events and other public awareness campaigns. "We want to ensure the message gets out that B.C. continues to be a first-rate destination for various outdoor fishing adventures," said Dhaliwal. The funding is made possible through the $400 million Canadian Fisheries Adjustment and Restructuring Program.
