DAYS INN FORECASTS NEW PROMOTION THE WEATHER NETWORK

Days Inns - Canada of Toronto has announced it has renewed its advertising contract with The Weather Network and its French affiliate MeteoMedia for another three years. "We believe that The Weather Network has an extremely bright future which is why we continue to advertise with them year after year," Melissa Evans, marketing manager, Days Inns - Canada said. "The Weather Network offers national exposure to an extraordinarily large audience base making it the perfect vehicle to deliver the Days Inns message." The advertising relationship between the hotel chain and the weather channel began in 1996. Days Inns has advertised its national campaigns such as its "Game of Life on the Road" promotion on the network and plans to promote its upcoming fall "Business Travel Never Sounded So Good" promotion targeted at frequent business travellers, on the network. The promotion running between September 15, 1999 and April 30, 2000, offers guests who stay four nights their choice of one of three CDs. Guests who stay for nine nights will receive a free night and guests who stay 12 nights will receive a free anti-shock portable CD player. Advertising for the promotion includes television spots and print ads in major newspapers across the country. The spots were created by Bluemoon Productions Inc. and the media buy was handled by The Media Company. Creative for the print advertisements and collateral materials was done by Victoria Graphics Inc. All three companies are based in Toronto. Public relations is being handled in-house. The advertising campaign will be supported with in-hotel collateral materials and promotions with both The Weather Network and BMG Music Canada.
