CHRYSLER CANADA GETS A NEW NAME
By Adnews Staff
As a result of last year's merger between Chrysler Corporation and Daimler-Benz and the creation of a global company called DaimlerChrysler AG, the Canadian subsidiary company Chrysler Canada Ltd. is changing its corporate name to DaimlerChrysler Canada Inc., effective yesterday. "This is a change in name only - we are not creating a new company. The operations, responsibilities and day-to-day activities of the former Chrysler Canada Ltd. will remain unchanged," president and CEO of the former Chrysler Canada Ltd. Edwin Brust said. Dealers will continue to be identified by the vehicle brands they sell and not by the new name. Mercedes-Benz Canada Inc. and the credit bureaus for both Chrysler and Mercedes-Benz will remain separate legal entities under one combined management. The company, originally founded in Windsor, Ontario in 1925 as the Chrysler Corporation of Canada Ltd., shortened its name to Chrysler Canada Ltd. in 1963.
