EATON'S CLOSING FIVE STORES NEXT SPRING

As the "For Sale" sign continues to hang outside the doors of the Toronto-based T. Eaton Company Ltd., the retailer has announced it will be closing five locations this coming Spring. Employees of the five locations were informed that the stores in question will be closing when the current leases expire in February 2000. The locations are London Galleria, St. Catharines Pen Centre, Sudbury, Brandon and Edmonton Londonderry. Eaton's president, chairman and CEO, Brent Ballantyne said in a release "this decision is a result of the company's continued strategic review of locations within our store network."
