Havas Advertising of Paris, France is selling its outdoor advertising operations, which include: Avenir, HMC Transports and Claude Publicite, to France's JCDecaux group. The sale price is $929 million US ($1.3 billion CAN). According to Havas, plans to put the outdoor advertising business up for sale had been announced earlier as part of a drive to sharpen the Havas group's focus on its core publishing and multimedia activities. Avenir focuses on billboard advertising, HMC Transports specialized in transport advertising (airports, urban transit networks and inflight magazines) and Claude Publicite focused on luminous displays. The deal is still subject to approval from employees of both Havas and JCDecaux.
