PLAYTOY SAYS ITS MARKETING PLOY MADE ITS TOY A HIT

Playtoy Industries of Toronto says its unique marketing approach has helped the company sell more than one million packs of its newest toy in the first six weeks on the market. The new toy is called Crazy Bones, which is available in packs of three and five. Crazy Bones are small, plastic cartoon-like characters that are shaped like bones and come in dozens of different colors. Each of the toys has its own name. Each set also includes a game card and stickers, which gives kids seven different ways to play with the toy such as tiddlywinks, marbles, jacks and Pogs. To promote the toy, Playtoy is touring malls across Canada to show children how to play with Crazy Bones. The tour features a live demonstration show with original rap music, dance and entertainment. Crazy Bones' roots date back 2,00 years in Greece and Rome where children would paint faces on dried sheep knuckle bones and play with them. In 1996, a Spanish entrepreneur saw a display of the bones in a museum in Spain and developed the game.
