GENERAL MILLS UNVEILS INSTANT FAVORITES

Toronto-based General Mills Canada is showing Canadians how to make some of their favorites in an instant. The company will introduce two new products on the national market this fall: Betty Crocker instant mashed potatoes and Betty Crocker cookie mix. The mashed potatoes will be available in three flavors: Roasted Garlic, Butter & Herb and Homestyle. There will also be instant scalloped potatoes on store shelves: Au Gratin, Sour Cream and Chives, Cheddar and Bacon and original Scalloped. There will be four cookie varieties to choose from: chocolate chip, sugar cookie, double chocolate chunk and peanut butter. The instant potatoes will be promoted using TV ads created by Cossette Communication-Marketing of Toronto. The cookie mixes will be supported using print ads in trade and consumer magazines including Canadian Living, Homemaker's and Madame au Foyer. There will also be a national free-standing insert and a sampling program. The cookie mix campaign will be handled in-house.
