CNE GOES AFTER CHINESE MARKET

The Canadian National Exhibition will target the Chinese community with its multicultural day on Aug. 29. Called CNE Chinese Day, the event will feature cultural performances, and a concert by a Hong Kong pop music star. In addition, DJs and on-air personalities from the Fairchild Media Group's radio and TV stations will perform and play games on stage. Pizza Nova will sponsor the event by handing out over 300,000 free admission coupons through its stores in the greater Toronto area. To promote the event, Pizza Nova and Fairchild will run join promotional activities. In addition, Fairchild will broadcast radio and TV ads, and produce a five-part series to introduce the CNE and Chinese Day. The ads will be created in-house. PR will be done by Focus Communications of Markham, Ont. The CNE begins later this month and runs until Labor Day. It has been holding various multicultural days for the past three years including East Indian Day, Latin Fiesta and Africanfest.
