WIC REVENUES JUMP

Vancouver-based WIC Western International Communications has reported an increase in income and revenues for the nine-month period ending May 31. Net income was $19.8 million, compared to $13.3 million during the same period last year. Current results include $8.4 million of investment income including profit from the sale of WIC's interest in the CTV Television Network. Revenues were $449.3 million, compared to $376.2 million for the same nine months in 1997. The broadcast division, which is comprised of the company's television, radio and subscription businesses, reported increased revenues of $356.2 million, up from $303.6 million last year. WIC operates and manages two divisions: broadcast and delivery. The broadcast division is comprised of nine TV stations and 12 radio stations, as well as subscription and pay-per-view TV services. The delivery division includes WIC Connexus and the company's 33.6% interest in Canadian Satellite Communications.
