CAMPAIGN TRIES TO STEM CONFUSION

Community Voices of Support launched a public service awareness campaign last week to tell Torontonians about a new health and social services information phone number. The campaign uses radio, TV, print and transit ads created by the Saffer Group of Toronto. All the media space was donated. The ads use the tagline: "We all need someone we can lean on," and promotes the new phone number, 397-INFO. By phoning the number, someone can find out which agency in the city best meets their needs. In addition, the ads tell people about the range of services available to them in Toronto. There are more than 1,500 health and social service agencies in the city. The goal of the campaign is to generate more understanding of how much help is available and where. The campaign was launched because the amalgamation of the city and government cutbacks have caused some confusion about what services are still available and from whom. Community Voices of Support is a coalition of 400 Toronto health and social service agencies.
