AGENCIES FIGHT FOR ONTARIO GOVERNMENT BUSINESS

Five Toronto agencies are vying for the Ontario Lottery Corp. account. They are: Gee, Jeffery & Partners, the Gingko Group, Padulo Integrated, Vickers & Benson Advertising and incumbent Promanad Communications. The agencies will make their presentations on June 25 and a decision will be made about two weeks after that.

Four Toronto agencies are battling for the Ontario Research & Development Fund account, a program organized by the Ministry of Energy, Science and Technology. The short listed agencies are: Benchmark Communications, Environics Communications, Impact Group and Zed Communications. Ontario Hydro will develop a short list of agencies for its account this week, with presentations being done June 29.

The government is yet to announce its media agency-of-record. The decision was made in April. The two short listed agencies were incumbents Media Buying Services and Genesis Media, both of Toronto. MBS handled domestic media and Genesis was responsible for ethnic media. The government plans to consolidate the business with one agency.
