ETC TO PROMOTE A HEALTHY DURHAM REGION
By Adnews Staff
Ellis-Teichman Communications of Toronto was recently hired to handle a five-year campaign combating cancer and cardiovascular disease in Ontario's Region of Durham. The agency was hired for the account after a competition with three other unnamed agencies. ETC won the business because of its experience in social marketing. The campaign is called Cancer and Cardiovascular Disease Prevention Program and has several elements to it. The campaign will focus on community involvement to support good health through public relations, posters and collateral materials, as well as print and radio ads. In addition, the program will be featured at local events, giving away such things as T-shirts, stickers and flags. The campaign will begin in the fall. About 10 organizations are involved in the program including the Region of Durham's health department, the Cancer Society, the Heart and Stroke Foundation and the YMCA. ETC's other health and social marketing experience includes the Ontario Association of Optometrists, Regional Geriatric Program of Metropolitan Toronto, the Ontario March of Dimes, the Ontario Ministry of Health, Network for the Prevention of Elder Abuse and Girl Child Network.
