BURGER KING FINALLY IN EDMONTON MARKET
By Adnews Staff
Burger lovers in Edmonton will be able to sink their teeth into Whoppers soon. Edmonton is the only province that doesn't have the Burger King chain because the company didn't own the name there until recently. It was the property of Edmontonians Jim Rae and Bill Jarvis who recently sold it to the chain for just under $1 million. Jarvis and Rae opened their first Burger King in Edmonton in 1956. Although they sold their burger joints in 1990, they retained the rights to the name. The two locally-owned Burger Kings will change their names when the chain makes its debut. D'Arcy, Masius, Benton & Bowles of Toronto handles advertising for Burger King in English Canada. Marketel of Montreal does it for French market.
