SIMPSON RECEIVES AWARD OF MERIT

Maclean Hunter Womens' Group publisher and vice-president Lee Simpson has walked away with the Award of Merit For Magazine. The award is presented by The Advertising Club of Toronto and recognizes those in the media industry who have made an outstanding long-term contribution to the media industry, and will continue to contribute to its growth in the years to come. Simpson was appointed publisher of Chatelaine magazine in March 1988, becoming the first women to be appointed to the post in the 65-year history of the magazine. In 1993, she founded Modern Woman magazine. Simpson is currently a member of Advertising Standards Canada, Magazines Canada, CANCOPY, PCTMC and the Canadian Cosmetic, Toiletry and Fragrance Association. She has also been a director at the Print Measurement Bureau, the National Advertising Benevolent Society and the Canadian Advertising Research Foundation.
