SYMANTEC REFOCUSES ON CANADA
By Adnews Staff
Symantec Corp. of Cupertino, California is taking another kick at the can in Canada. The company has hired a Canadian general manager to offer greater support to Canadian resellers and end-users. Chris Monnette has been named Canadian general manager. Previously he was a retail field sales manager in the U.S. In addition, the number of sales representatives covering Canada has tripled, and a Canadian-based marketing staff will manage all marketing activities here, Monnette says in a release. However, advertising will be created by Symantec's U.S. agency, Goldberg, Moser, O'Neill of San Francisco. The Communications Group of Toronto handles Canadian PR. Symantec markets software in three areas: the Norton product line of anti-virus and PC assistance products, the WinFax and ACT! product lines and the Cafe product line in Internet development tools. In Canada, Symantec is headquartered in Toronto and has offices in Montreal, Ottawa and Vancouver.
