TOSHIBA UNVEILS NEW MACHINES

Markham, Ont.-based Toshiba of Canada added five new notebook computers to its line-up this week. The new machines are called the Satellite 300CDS, the Satellite 310CDS, the Tecra 550CDT, the Portege 320CT and the Satellite Pro 470CDT. The Satellite 300CDS and 310CDS are entry level notebooks featuring Intel 166 MHz and 200 MHz processors with MMX technology respectively. The Tecra 550CDT boasts a 266MHz Pentium chip with MMX technology, as well as advanced multimedia features such as a graphics processor with 4MB VRAM and a 3D graphics accelerator. The Portege 320CT is an ultra portable machine that weighs 3.8 pounds and a 10.4-inch TheatreView screen. The Satellite Pro 470CDT comes with a 200MHz Intel processor with MMX technology, 32 MB RAM and a 12.1-inch color screen. The new notebooks are being promoted using a national print campaign created by Promanad Communications of Toronto.
