JWT AND ENTERPRISE TO CREATE COMBINED MEDIA UNIT

Toronto-based J. Walter Thompson Canada is teaming up with Enterprise Creative Selling of Toronto to form one media planning/buying agency. The newly-formed agency will handle all aspects of media accounts for both agencies. It will begin operating in six months. Karen Nayler has been named media director and vice-president of the yet-to-be-named agency. Most recently she was deputy general manager, vice-president and media director at Enterprise. Janet Callaghan will be coordinating new business ventures with JWT USA. Previously she was vice-president and national media director at JWT's Toronto office. The new operation will also create three new positions. Barbara Passmore has become media research and business development vice-president in addition to her responsibilities as group media director and vice-president. Julie McIIroy is now media manager and vice-president, while Craig Dawson is media manager at Enterprise. Formerly McIIroy was assoicate media director and vice-president at JWT and Dawson was media consultant at Enterprise. Until the new agency is launched, media groups will remain separate. JWT and Enterprise are both owned by WPP Group plc. JWT's client list includes Cheseborough-Pond's (Canada), The Discovery Channel, De Beers Consolidated Mines, Kellogg Canada, Kodak Canada and Scott Paper. Enterprise's client list includes Block Drug Co. Canada, the Canadian Cancer Society, Royal Mutual Funds, TDL Group and the Women's Television Network.
