PETSMART EXPANDS AGAIN IN CANADA

U.S.-based Petsmart opened its 11th and 12th Canadian stores earlier this month in Edmonton. Petsmart encourages owners to shop with their pets. The 20,000-square-foot outlets feature a variety of premium and grocery-brand labels, commercial specialty foods, vitamins, medications, grooming supplies and toys for companion animals. Each store also offers a full-service professional groomer and obedience classes, as well as adoption centres, which donate their services to local animal care and control organizations to facilitate the adoption of homeless animals. The new outlets are being promoted using TV and outdoor advertising, as well as flyers. The campaign was created by The Evans Group of Seattle. Cossette Communication-Marketing of Toronto localized the ads for the Canadian market and did the media buy.
