FORMER WOLF STAFFER RE-OPENS OWN AGENCY
By Adnews Staff
Former Wolf Group account manager Jude Kelly left the agency late last month to re-open his own PR agency in Mississauga, Ont. Called Versatile Communications, the firm has existed since the spring of 1996, but was put on hiatus when Kelly went to work at Wolf last November. Kelly decided to relaunch the agency because "I felt there were other things I could do. I though I could offer a big advantage because I have less overhead." Kelly also wants to go after smaller clients that "wouldn't do much for Wolf but could pay a lot for me." He plans to specialize in sports and entertainment projects, going after $2,000 to $3,000 accounts that "I can whip off in a week or two." Versatile already has two clients, the Toronto Colony Hotel and Soul Food Bistro of Toronto. The agency got the Toronto Colony Hotel account without a review. Kelly had pitched the business when he was with Wolf. Both companies got too busy and the working relationship never transpired. The Soul Food Bistro is a Caribbean restaurant that opened three weeks ago. Versatile won this piece of business after being contact by Soul Food.
