BELL CANADA LAUNCHES TEST CABLE SERVICE

Bell Canada began testing its cable television service last week in London, Ont. and Repentigny, Que. The trial will last two years and feature digital television, limited Internet services over television screens and high-speed Internet access. One feature of the new service is the electronic program guide. It identifies the show airing on a channel. If a viewer clicks on a channel, even during a commercial, the guide will display the title of the program. The guide can also be programmed to remind viewers of favorite shows or to scan through a week of programs on all channels and provide a list of the times episodes of a favorite series will air. Advertising for Bell is done by BBDO Canada and Cossette Communication-Marketing, both of Toronto.
