NEC EXPANDS VERSA LINE
By Adnews Staff
U.S.-based NEC Computer Systems Division added two new machines to its Versa line of computers to the North American market this week. Called the Versa 6220 and 6230, the machines use Intel Corp.'s 200 MHz and 233 MHz Pentium processors with MMX technology respectively. They also feature a 13.3-inch screen, 3D graphics, 20X CD-ROM, full-screen motion and 3D stereo. Users can customize their systems to fit their needs by swapping out any of the six VersaBay Paks in the Versa Bay II slot located on the front of the computer. The Paks include a 20X maximum variable-speed CD-ROM drive, 1.44 MB floppy drive, second lithium battery and second hard drive, as well as 120 MB SuperDisk LS-120 drive and 100 MG zip drive. In Canada, the computers will be integrated into current print advertising promoting other NEC notebook computers. It was created by Hample Stefanides of New York. The Cohen Group of Toronto did the media buy. Continental Communications of Toronto is doing PR.
