DISTRIBUTION COMPANY CHANGES NAME
By Adnews Staff
Montreal-based Coscient Astral Distribution, a company formed by the Coscient Group Inc. in 1996, yesterday changed its name to Motion International Inc. The switch was made to project an image of company growth and convey the idea that the company is a new force in Canadian film, video and television distribution. The company was originally formed after Coscient acquired Astral Communications Inc.'s distribution and program development divisions and integrated them with Allegro Films Distribution. "Initially we planned on using the Astral name until the end of the year because we wanted both program suppliers, clients and co-venture partners to feel comfortable with the new company," said company president Stephen Greenberg. "We wanted them to feel reassured they would be doing business with the same team as in the past, and that they could continue to count on us as a source of high quality programming. These objectives have been met and we felt it would be appropriate to change the name now rather than wait until the end of the year."
