TORONTO DOMINION BANK LOWERS ELECTRONIC BANKING CHARGES

Toronto Dominion Bank is trying to take the confusion out of its costs for its electronic banking services. Under the new fee structure, which will be introduced Sept. 1, customers will bank for free using TD Access to withdraw funds, pay for purchases, make bill payments, transfer funds or obtain account information if they have a current TD Service Plan such as the $5 TD Access Plan, or maintain a minimum monthly balance of $1,000 on most TD personal accounts. Customers who choose to pay per transaction will pay 40 cents per transaction, compared to the current charge of $1.50. The fee reduction will be promoted using direct mail done by TBWA Chiat/Day Advertising of Toronto. TD's electronic services include the bank machine, telephone banking, PC banking and Interac direct payment.
