MUSEUM CHANGES NAME AND MARKETING PLANS

The Ontario Agricultural Museum of Milton, Ont. has new owners, has renamed itself and may look at getting "more heavily into advertising" to promote the exhibit. The museum is now owned by a non-profit group called Country Heritage Experience Inc. Until April, the museum was owned by the provincial government. The exhibit is called The Farm Museum. Currently, the museum promotes itself using brochures at tourist offices and going to malls on the weekend in costume to hand out brochures. It may begin advertising more to target city dwellers. Most of its customers now are rural residents. When it does decide to advertise more, which will be in the next five weeks, The Farm Museum may hire an agency or decide to handle it in-house. The Farm Museum is a farm-oriented historical setting that showcases what life was like 150 years ago in a fun and interactive way.
