HEINZ TO OFFER NEW DOG FOOD

Toronto-based Heinz Canada's Martin Pet Food division will launch a new line of dog food at across Canada over the next few weeks. Called Heritage, the brand is available in two formulas, one for puppies and the other for adults to meet the specific nutrition needs of dogs. Martin Pet Food began promoting the product through sampling at the Calgary Stampede, and plans to have sampling programs at various events across Canada including Toronto's Royal Winter Fair. Advertising plans for Heritage have not been finalized, but ads will be created in-house. Martin Pet Food was bought by Heinz nine months ago. It also manufactures pet foods under the Techni-Cal brand which is sold only through pet specialty stores and the Medi-Cal name which is sold exclusively through veterinary offices.
