TRAIN TOUR INCREASES SERVICE AND AD SPEND

Rocky Mountaineer Railtours of Vancouver almost doubled its frequency of service in June and plans to double its ad spend this year, company spokesperson Eric Belanger told Adnews this week. The company operates two-day all daylight train excursions between Vancouver and the Rockies resort towns of Jasper and Banff, or the foothills' city of Calgary. Rocky Mountaineer has increased its frequency from 72 departures last year, to 126 this year, offering two luxury GoldLeaf Service Dome coaches on both of its trains. Although Rocky Moutaineer wouldn't release the budget for the ad account, the company did say it promotes its services in 20 countries using mainly targeted glossy magazines. Advertising for Rocky Mountaineer is done by Vrlak & Co. of Vancouver. The GoldLeaf coaches offer 72 travelers reserved seating and a 360-degree panoramic viewing on the upper deck along with an observation platform, private dining lounge and galley on the lower deck, two spiral staircases and an elevator. The company operates its service from May to October.
