NORVARTIS LAUNCHES ASTHMA DRUG
By Adnews Staff
Novartis Pharmaceuticals Canada of Dorval, Quebec introduced a long-acting broncodilator to the Canadian market this week for people suffering from moderate to severe asthma. Called Foradil, the drug has a fast onset of action of between one and three minutes and is recommended for people 12 years of age and older. Foradil comes in a gelatin capsule form containing a dry powder which is inhaled into the lungs using an inhaler provided with the medication. It makes breathing easier by opening the small air passages and helping them to remain open and relaxed for about 12 hours. The Foradil inhaler allows users to see that they have taken the proper amount of medication. The drug is being promoted using inserts in specialty medical journals.
