NEC GOES DIRECT
By Adnews Staff
New York-based Packard Bell NEC, Inc. will begin selling commercial computers through direct sales worldwide beginning in the third quarter of the year. The program is called NEC NOW and will focus primarily on small and medium-sized businesses, Fortune 1000 companies and government departments. Customers will work with NEC systems consultants to determine their computing needs and to select the best computers for them. They can choose directly from NEC or from a network of resellers who will handle installation, service and support. In Canada, advertising plans for NEC NOW have not been finalized but will likely use print. It will be created by The Cohen Group of Toronto. Continental Communications of Toronto does Canadian PR.
