CHINA SEES CINEMA ADVERTISING

Movie-goers in China are beginning to see advertisments before a movie. There was previously a ban on cinema advertising in China, but Xinfei Group, a hosuehold electronic appliance maker, is the first off the mark with a cinema ad. The industry says cinema advertising is expected to generate lots of profits for companies that import foreign films. The China Film Corp. says it will accept 15-second to 60-second ads to be aired at the beginnings of all popular imported films. The Chinese Consumer Association says that ads hurt the interests of movie-goers because they have to watch the ads. It has suggested that theatres either inform consumers before they buy tickets that ads will appear or reduce the price of movie tickets.
