MOLSON AND LABATT KICK OFF SUMMER

Now that the summer heat has kicked in, a beer war in gearing up. Toronto-based Molson Breweries will drop its prices in Ontario by $3 for a 24-case of beer from June 30 to July 13. Its 12-packs will cost $1.50 less and a six-pack will be 75 cents cheaper. To promote the discount, Molson will launch a newspaper, radio and TV campaign. It will be created by MacLaren McCann of Toronto. Labatt Breweries of Toronto will reduce the price of a 24-pack in Ontario by $2 from June 23 to July 6. Twelve-packs will be $1 cheaper and six-packs will be 50 cents cheaper. In addition, Labatt will run similar promotions during the long weekend in August and September. Print, radio and TV ads support the Labatt promotion. It will be created by Ammirati & Puris/Lintas of Toronto.
