Kruger promotes Big Assist program
By Rob Bale
Bathroom tissue and paper towel company Kruger Products has resumed an initiative called the “Kruger Big Assist” for a fifth year. Through this program, the company will provide $25,000 to five regional minor hockey associations. In addition, one grand prize winner will receive an additional $75,000. The effort is intended to make hockey more accessible to local children.
The company has signed five hockey players to represent the various regions eligible for the program: Macklin Celebrini, Nazem Kadri, Marie-Philip Poulin, Natalie Spooner, and Hayley Wickenheiser. They will encourage the public to nominate a local association and to vote for the grand prize winner. Nominations will close on Feb. 10. In addition, consumers who purchase a specially-marked package of Cashmere, Purex, Scotties, SpongeTowels or Bonterra products until Feb. 28 will receive a token for a limited-edition Kruger Big Assist toque. Proceeds from these sales will support the program.
“Now in the program's fifth year, we're proud to see the impact the Kruger Big Assist has made on communities across Canada to date,” said Susan Irving, chief marketing officer at Kruger Products. “We're thrilled to be celebrating this milestone year by partnering with five incredible Canadian hockey professionals to rally Canadians across the country to join in on the assist that will ensure more kids get the opportunity to play minor hockey.”
